Parents, Family, & Friends
Learn about support systems through a quick text message exchange.
As teens, one of the most important management tools is to have a positive support system. If you are parents or family of a teen with migraine, please remember to have empathy. Migraine is a common and serious condition, and negativity, anger, or guilt only add to the risk factors of migraine. A positive outlook, happiness, and understanding are protective factors in migraine. As teenagers, friends can play a role in living a healthy life. It is important to surround yourself with supportive friends, who accept and understand migraine. If parents, friends, and family do not understand migraine, please ask them to participate in this activity. It will help them understand what you are going through, and it will make support more likely.
