Over time, the migraine nervous system is less likely to return to it's normal state. There are four stages of migraine. These include episodic, frequent, transforming, and chronic. Our goal is to prevent migraine from becoming chronic migraine. When your nervous system can return to normal and your head pain subsides, this is called episodic migraine. When your nervous system remains sensitized, days with headaches increase. When you have 15 or more headache days, you have chronic migraine. This is why it is very important to start managing your nervous system. Because the longer your nervous systme remains sensitized, the more head pain, and other issues will arise, like depression, anxiety, and gut issues.(9-13)
